Dear LBDL readers, after a year in Paris, I think that it’s time for me to give you my list of to-do things and to-go spots. So there you go… If you like fancy and quite high-profile venues, these places should match your tastes:

  • Buddha Bar
  • Mama Shelter (try their cucumber cocktail… it’s DELISH!)
  • Pershing Hall
  • Hotel Plaza
  • Yeels
  • Le Syndicat
  • Gravity Bar
  • Lockwood
  • Lavomati
  • Castor Club
  • Mandarin Hotel (their terrasse is beautiful! It’s a hidden garden in the middle of the city)
  • La Nuba (Rooftop – Summer)
  • Le Perchoir Marais/Oberkampf (Rooftop – Summer)
  • Hotel Novotel Vaugirard Montparnasse (Rooftop – Summer)
  • Le Rosa Bonheur: Quai de Seine Invalides OR buttes-chaumont
  • Le Faust
  • Café de Flore
  • Sherry Butt

Bars that I’ve never tested YET but heard they were nice: Le Coq, Orphée, La Famille.

  • Big Fernand
  • Bistro Burger
  • Le Ruisseau
  • John’s Viande
  • Camion qui fume
  • 231 East Steet

  • Miss Ko (have a sushi-addiction just like me? that’s your spot!)
  • Market
  • Le Saint-Lazare
  • Maison de la Truffe (if you are a truffle lover)
  • Verde Luz (they have the BEST tacos, so fresh and so tasty)
  • Nolita on les Champs Elysées, very cool spot with delicious and sophisticated Italian food. It’s sort of a hidden place, hidden behind Contemporary masterpieces and Fiat cars… you can hardly find it if you do not know it exists. Only for insiders 😉
  • Speakeasy (it feels like a New York underground type of bar/restaurant and they have amazing live music)
  • La Cantine du Faubourg
  • Le George (On the last floor of the Centre Pompidou)
  • DIEP (nice Chinese restaurant in Paris if you’re into Chinese food!)
  • Le Paname at Étienne Marcel: They offer cheese & charcuterie plates, great for ‘apéro’ 🙂 the place is cosy and always packed!

MICHELIN-STAR RESTAURANTS (the best, but also the most expensive – to consider only if you have a big, BIG budget)

  • Shang palace
  • Le Meurice
  • L’Epicure
  • L’Atelier by Robuchon
  • Le Pré Catelant
  • La Tour d’argent

  • Le Ciel de Paris
  • Hotel Raphael
  • L’Oiseau Blanc

  • Le Dôme du Marais
  • Les bonnes soeurs
  • Clint
  • Ellsworth
  • Hollybelly
  • Café des lettres
  • Marcel
  • Rose Bakery
  • Benedict
  • Durant Dupont
  • Eggs & Co

  • L’Arc
  • Cartel
  • Titty Twister
  • Raspoutine
  • Silencio
  • Longchamps (summer only)
  • Bagatelle (summer only)
  • Matignon

To avoid: Queens, Duplex, VIP Room

  • BC
  • Le Hobo
  • An apartment… clubs close pretty late in Paris (around 5am-6am) so it’s very likely that a cool ‘after’ will take place in a private apartment somewhere.

  • Parc du bois de Vincennes: you can rent a boat on the lake, just like in Central Park
  • Paris Plage: Pick a long chair on the sand, chill and eat an ice-cream while enjoying the view of the Seine, where multiple flyboats filled with happy tourists will flow past.
  • Boats ‘terraces’: Go to ‘Les Quais Pont Marie’ and have a drink at one of the ‘péniches’ (= Parisian boats).
  • Go to Trocadero at night… and enjoy the view on the Eiffel Tower from there, especially when it starts sparkling.
  • Festivals (if you’re into it): Rock en Seine, INOX festival, Pitchfork, Weather, Peacock

There you go… that’s all for my experience so far. If you have other spots to recommend, feel free to comment, Cheers! 🙂
